This week the snook spree continues. White bait works like a charm, and they are very prevalent anywhere from average to very large. Also some big schools of jack's have been found in the passes, providing hours of wrestling workout and some good pictures. Redfish tend to be found on the higher tides around the oyster bars, and near the mangrove shorelines, and while they aren't plentiful, there have been some good sizes. The highlight for this week was an in-shore slam of snook/red/trout, on artificial bait. A nice show of skill from my customer, who requested the trip be done that way.

Still great weather, warm and sunny with a nice cooling breeze. Not hard to take.

February images - worth taking a look!

Sometimes the fishing is just part of the fun when spending a day on the water.

Wildlife abounds in our neck of the woods and plays a big part in what folks like to do, whether they are here for the season or just on vacation from the cold up north.

These are some truly spectacular pictures that were taken a couple of weeks ago by Harry McKeon from New Jersey. It's the capture on film of a lifetime , and Harry was kind enough to forward them to me.

Its a great time to be out there to enjoy some nature and maybe even take home a fish dinner to boot. Although you may have to wrestle with the locals a little to get it!

Winter Fishing in Southwest Florida

November & December in the South.

And the cooler weather is finally here, all the way at the end of south. Everyone and everything just seems to have a little more pep and energy when it finally cools off. Not quite as cool as those freezing temperatures up further north though! Quite some early tastes of old man winter this year.

Which is why I'm feeling that our seasonal visitors will be making their way down here to comfortable coolness with plenty of sunshine mixed in, sooner rather than later.

The fishing, as you would expect is also starting to pick up. Not so much languishing in the deep underwater shade. And more active fish make for some fun times on the water, that's for sure. With the Holidays rounding the bend, and the fishing picking up, this is my favorite time of year to be out.
